Obama gets jersey from Brazil’s Lula
US president Barack obama seemed please with the gift he received yesterday from Brazil’s President luiz inacio lula da silva,but it was bittersweet nonetheless.
sliva gave Obama,a big sport fan,an autographed yellow brazilian soccer jersey at the start of their morning meeting at the G8 summit in Italy.
During their banter which reporters partly heard though a translater,Sliva spoke animately of the june 28 soccer match between the US and the Brazilian national team in the confederation Cup series.The game was a crushing loss for the underdog Ameircans,who led at the midway point 2:0 only to lose3:2.
Sliva repeatly said,’yes ,we can.,which was obama’s campaign catchphrase 0and apparently what the Brazilian prasident had in mind while his team trailed. Obama smiled gamely.if he felt sliva was rubbing it in a bit ,he didn’t let on.
Model minister guides spouses
A former model-turned-government minister was guidng Mrs obama and other G8 spouses thourgh their italian sightseeing.
0n wednesday,Carfagna –wearing a black dess with a pluning neckline and pearls–escorted the spouse through museums and to the vatican.Mrs 0bama skipped the vatican audiene with pope benedict XVI .she’ll join her husband and daughters for a private audience with the pontiff
